When making your own seasoning mixes always adjust to your own taste. If you do not like black pepper do not add it, if you are not fond of garlic or onion, omit it. All seasonings should be to your own taste, so use this recipe as a guideline to create your own unique blend or adjust the amounts to suit your needs. Start with less of each ingredient and if you decide you want more of one item than another it can be added as needed.
BACON SALT
Ingredients
1 c. Hickory smoked Sea Salt*
1 T. Smoked Paprika
1 T. Granulated garlic
1 T. Granulated Onion
1/4 tsp. Ground Black Pepper (or to taste)
Directions
Combine the garlic, onion and black pepper. Run through a food processor until fine if necessary. Or use a mortar and pestle to grind the ingredients. Add the Paprika and Hickory salt and stir or process to your preferred consistency. Pour into spice jars with tight fitting lids and store in a dry cupboard or pantry. Shake before using.
Uses: Season meats, salads, vegetables or in any savory recipe where you would typically season with salt.
