What you Need:
Spice jars or mason jars
Jar Funnel
Whisk
Bowl
Spices (whole or fresh ground)
Spice Grinder (optional, but handy to have)
Ingredients
Yield: Enough for 4 recipes using 1 tsp spice mix per recipe
4 tsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp. Cardamom
1 tsp. Allspice
1/8 tsp. Nutmeg (optional)
Bulk Spice mix
Yield: Approximately 1/4 Cup
1/4 C. Cinnamon
1 tsp. Allspice
1 tsp. Ginger
1 tsp. Cardamom
1/8 tsp. Nutmeg (optional)
Directions:
Mix the spices together with a whisk. Pour into spice jars or mason jars and tighten the lids. Store in a cool, dark cupboard or pantry. Shake before using.
Use: Most recipes call for 1 tsp. total spice mix. Use more or less according to your own taste preferences.
Note: You are in command when making your own spice mixes. If you prefer more of one spice than another, add more or less, if there is a spice you do not like, omit it and use more of those spices you like.
Tip: If you have an allergy to Cinnamon, Cardamom is a good substitute that most people can tolerate.
