Ingredients
1 1/2 Cup of Whole Wheat Flour and Ground Oat Flour (3/4 C. each) Or Buckwheat combination)
1 tsp. of Baking Powder
2/3-1 Cup of meat broth (enough added to form a pourable batter)*
1 egg, with crushed shell beaten
1/2 C. Bacon Fat
1/2 cups of apple (cubed-about 1 small apple or combined fresh or dried fruit or vegetables)
Topping
1 Cup of Black Oiled Sunflower Seeds
1/2 Cup Quinoa Seeds
1/2 Cup Whole Oats
1/2 Cup Cracked Corn
To Prepare:
Mix your Flour, Baking Powder into a bowl. Next, mix your broth, fat, Egg, and Apple together to Combine. Once those are mixed together to make your batter, you are ready to prepare your pancake treats.
To make the topping, combine the Sunflower Seeds, Quinoa, Whole Oats and cracked corn. Stir well.
To keep the seeds and oats whole, I do not mix them into the batter. pour about 1/4 cup of your pancake batter onto a hot, lightly greased griddle, until it begins to form air bubbles just a bit at the edges, then sprinkle a tablespoon of the grain mixture onto the wet batter. Turn your pancake and brown the other side lightly.
Remember, these are treats and should not comprise more than 10% of your flocks daily balanced feed ration, and should not be provided until they have eaten most of their ration.
