DIY POTPOURRI LAMP
For a fun Holiday or All Occasion project. Make a potpourri lamp.
I have made these decorative lamps for many years as last minute Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Birthday and Christmas Gifts as well as display in my own home. They are easy to make, require a few inexpensive and *free* supplies and can be made last minute.
SUPPLIES:
Large clear Vase (tinted will work also) or half-gallon Mason Jar
1 strand battery operated mini lights (any color, but clear is what I mostly use)
Dried flower petals, pine cones, wood chips, pine and fir branches (choices are endless)
a Few drops of Holiday or all occasion scented essential oils (Vanilla, Lavender, Rosemary, pine, cinnamon, cranberry, bayberry , apple, pumpkin spice etc.)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Make sure the vase is sparkly clean. place some of the potpourri mixture into the bottom of the vase. Holding one end of the light string, coil it loosely in the vase, layering more potpourri with each light coil. Continue layering the light string and potpourri until the vase/jar is full. Top with a crocheted doily, tied with a decorative ribbon.
Note: Dried hydrangea flower heads are exceptionally pretty and hold their shape very well. Those make great potpourri lamps for any occasion. See my link for drying your own Hydrangea. http://justfowlingaround.weebly.com/pioneer-gardens/hydrangeagrowing-and-drying
