INGREDIENTS
Cooking Apples
1/4 cup creamery Butter
1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
Wash and core large cooking apples.
DIRECTIONS
Place in a baking pan. Stuff the core with creamery butter and brown sugar-cinnamon mix. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees or until soft, but still firm enough to lift into serving dishes. Spoon some of the butter and brown sugar mix over the apples. Serve, topped with plain or Vanilla yogurt, with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Or of course Ice Cream or Whipped Cream topping is always a hit. Enjoy!
Brown Sugar-Cinnamon mix: For two large apples, mix 1/4 cup brown sugar with 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon. Stir well to incorporate. You can use allspice, nutmeg, cloves or a mixture of your favorite baking spices to your own taste.
Caramel Powder:
Chicken Coop Chatter 2011-2016©
Cook 1/2 cup sugar in a frying pan until it reaches the candy stage on the thermometer or when a hard ball forms on a chilled plate with water. Break apart the caramel candy and run through a mini chopper to a powder. Store in an air tight container. Use for topping desserts, ice cream and yogurt.
Note: I topped mine with the Yogurt, and sprinkled homemade caramel powder and cinnamon on top.
Note: Do not make this up in quantity. It is best used fresh. Even in an airtight container, it will revert to a hard caramel. It can be melted and drizzled over Ice cream or your favorite dessert, but make sure it is in a microwave or heat safe container for reconstituting.
