Chicken Coop Chatter©
Cooked, shredded Turkey or Chicken
BBQ Sauce (your choice-I used honey bbq sauce)
Cheese, grated (your choice-I used Colby)
One fresh egg, beaten
Phylo Dough or Crescent Rolls
Pastry brush
Cook and shred Chicken Breast meat in the slow cooker approximately 4 hours on high. Drain any fat. Add your favorite BBQ sauce and continue to cook another 4 hours on low, Lay out your Phylo dough in 4 X 6 squares. Spoon the hot chicken mixture on the phylo, sprinkle with your favorite grated cheese. Fold the dough over the chicken and cheese. Brush tops with the beaten egg. Bake in the oven at 425, until the dough is a golden brown. Serve hot, with fresh vegetable sticks and dipping sauce. (see Easy Dipping Sauce below)
EASY DIPPING SAUCE: For a great and simple dipping sauce that goes with anything. Place 1 cup Mayonaise (or plain yogurt) in a serving bowl, add 1/4-1/2 cup BBQ sauce of your choice. Whip thoroughly with hand whisk. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
This is a great appetizer for a crowd or snack anytime. Time involved is minimal except allowing the shredded meat and BBQ sauce to meld together. These also freeze well to pull out anytime you need a quick appetizer or meal.
NOTE: Purchased Crescent Rolls may be used. Roll out the dough and follow the procedure above. You can cook up extra and freeze for a quick meal at anytime. This can be an appetizer or full meal.
NOTE: In a pinch you can used canned meat, just shred, add the bbq sauce and it's ready to use.
