Making Easter marshmallow peeps is a child-friendly and fun project. It’s quick and easy, so why not make a few to share.
What You Will Need
1 package pineapple flavored Jello
1/8 cup pineapple juice
1 bag small jelly beans or other small candy pieces (yellow and orange)
Large or jumbo marshmallows
1 small squeezable tube of black frosting
1 small squeezable tube of yellow or white frosting
Sandwich size sealable plastic bag
Clean and dry egg hells
Toothpick
Directions
Roll each marshmallow in the juice then drop into the plastic bag and seal. Shake to completely coat each marshmallow. Set on a cooking tray or parchment to dry.
Dampen marshmallow with juice, shake in plastic bag of dry Jello.
To Assemble :With the Black frosting, dot for each eye about 1/3 way from the top of the marshmallow. For the chick, cut the tip of the jelly bean off, coat the sticky end with frosting and place in the center of the marshmallow below the eyes. For ducklings, turn the jelly bean sideways and adhere with the frosting. If you would like eyelashes, drag a bit of the “eye” frosting out from the eyes at an angle with the toothpick. Stuff the marshmallow into the larger half of the egg shell, and top the marshmallow with the other half of the egg shell. Frosting may be used to secure the shell if needed.
Use photos as visual guide for chicks or ducks. Display in a clean egg carton or in Easter egg cups. Remind children to remove the egg shell before eating.
NOTE: You can use any flavor light color juice and any flavor jello that is yellow; or mix things up and have a colorful array of chicks and ducklings.
Display for Easter.
