Combine the beans, and broth in a slow cooker. Allow to slow cook 6-8 hours or overnight on your lowest setting.
Add left over mashed potatoes (about 2 cups) if you want a thicker soup base. Season as needed to your taste. (with left overs they are already seasoned, so it doesn't take much if any additional seasoning). If you want a "smoked meat" flavor, add a teaspoon of Smoked Paprika, or a couple drops of "Liquid Smoke" to your soup. If you do not have left over mashed potatoes, you can use a cup or so instant potato flakes as a thickener if desired for the consistency that you prefer.
